Introducing my video courses: Learn Docker, Laravel, Vue.js and more in no time

Published on Oct 21, 2018

Good news for all web developers who want to learn Docker or the fantastic Laravel PHP framework. I've recently launched a new micro-platform over at https://courses.goodbytes.be where I'll be adding new video courses on a regular basis. Courses are all in Dutch so only Dutch-speaking developers need to apply at this point in time.

What courses are available?

Responsive web design

If you are new to web design and quickly want to learn how to build a responsive website, we'll dive deep into HTML ans CSS to get that done. This courses is the same one we use in my web design classes.

NodeJS

This course is for you if you want to learn how to write full stack apps with Javascript. We'll dive into the basics of nodejs and will build out a working web app with MongoDB as our database. This is a good course for anyone that wants to learn how to write nodejs app with mongodb and web sockets. It covers all the basics and you'll be able to build an app on your own after following the course.

Object Oriented PHP

In my classes, we typically build apps like Instagram or Facebook in order to learn how web apps work. This course will teach you the basics op PHP development needed to write your own web apps. After completing this course you'll be able to build out just about any web app you can think of. Typically, students will want to move on to the Laravel course after mastering these PHP basics.

Docker

Developing and deploying apps in containers with Docker can be confusing at first. My free Docker course brings you and your team up to speed in just one hour. It's a no brainer to take this video course if you want to understand and use Docker in your next project.

Linux

In my intro course to Linux servers you'll learn how to set up a cloud Linux server and how to lock it down. You'll learn how to deploy a web app onto your server and gain insights into the basics of running your self-managed infrastructure.

Laravel

Laravel is my favourite PHP framework and a popular choice for many teams and developers around the world. If you are a PHP developer and have never used Laravel, then you are in for a treat. This course will guide you through the framework and will teach you the basics of building a complete app in Laravel.

Vue.js

Vue.js is a fantastic Javascript framework for building out rich applications by using components. It's often described as a framework that takes the best parts of React and Angular and I couldn't have said it better. If you think React is often too complex for your needs or you don't feel like learning Typescript just to use Angular please give Vue.js a chance, I promise you'll love it from the very beginning.

Who are these courses for?

My courses are for anyone interested in improving their skills in a practical way and in a short period of time. The courses are all based on several years of teaching these topics to students in college. I believe I have  a decent understanding of what beginners to intermediate developers need to quickly learn new skills without making things unnecessarily complicated.

For individuals

As a freelancer or solo developer, keeping up with frameworks and languages can be tough. Going through documentation and trying to figure it out all by yourself is an option, but not everyone has the time to do so. My courses will save you a lot of time and will let you gain better development skills in hours, no days.

For teams and companies

When a new developer joins your team or company, you often need to introduce them to your way of working or to your framework of choice. Having the option to point them to my courses saves your team a lot of time.

Why are these video courses better than others?

We are all time-pressed because of our jobs, families, hobbies, ... There simply isn't enough time in a day to do everything you'd want. At the same time we are all working in a fast-paced industry that is rapidly evolving. Staying up to date is a requirement to be in demand and to provide clear value to your clients or employers.

I feel like many free videos on Youtube are often low quality, too complex or too simplistic. Some people also prefer to watch videos in their own language, in this case Dutch. My courses strike a balance between getting started quickly while at the same time teaching you enough to get you on track with a new technology in just a couple of hours. That's time any developer should be able to set aside in order to boost their skills.

If you are looking for video courses that will teach you the skills you are looking for without ads and in high quality (video and audio), then these courses are for you. If you don't need a helping hand or have all the time in the world to figure things out on your own, that's pretty neat too.
